Nobody else had Steven Parker anywhere near the 239th overall pick. The Cowboys did, by 130 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
They banked enough surplus on Nash to cover a lot of smaller sins. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a ballhawk on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Circle this one: Emeka Egbuka at the 44th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
TreVeyon Henderson in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Malachi Moore is a better player than No. 149 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Ajani Cornelius in slot 174 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let a wide receiver like Nick Nash reach the 179th overall pick and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Zeek Biggers at No. 204 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Drew Kendall well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Teddye Buchanan. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Steven Parker this early at Round 7, Pick 23. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A real head-scratcher, Kevin Jennings in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
