The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Jay Higgins, the No. 61 name on the board, sitting there at the 149th pick like a gift left on the doorstep.

Wedig has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
