Somebody in the 212th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Jamari Thrash, the No. 170 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They will need Eboigbe to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 30th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kingsley Suamataia in No. 62 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Zak Zinter at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Brenden Rice is a better player than pick 130 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
BJ Mayes in the 174th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jamari Thrash at Round 6, Pick 37 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Justin Eboigbe. A minor need, but a need all the same.
