The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: DJ Giddens, the No. 176 name on the board, in the 211th pick. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They will need Kiser to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 14 they get a downhill hitter at safety, reach and all.
Kaleb Johnson is a better player than the 55th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jack Bech at pick No. 76 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.

They will replay Darius Alexander at the Round 5 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Shough at slot 170 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
No drama and no debate, Chase Lundt went about where he belonged in pick No. 172. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jack Kiser at the 174th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They let Ollie Gordon II come to them and pounced at pick 190. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Taking DJ Giddens in the 211th pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
