Some picks age like wine; Wesley Williams at slot 155 will need to, sitting 50 spots clear of his grade. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They banked enough surplus on Douglas to cover a lot of smaller sins. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through offensive lineman. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 15 they get a premier pass rusher, though the board says they badly overpaid.
A slide stopped in slot 46, with CJ Allen worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Eli Stowers at the 77th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Mason Reiger well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
A real head-scratcher, Wesley Williams in pick No. 155 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Caleb Douglas in the 195th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Bryson Eason at No. 229 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
