They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Anthony Lucas, 47 picks early at slot 68.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Boerkircher falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 23 they get a bendy edge with upside, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A reach for Derrick Moore in the 54th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Anthony Lucas well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, De'Zhaun Stribling went about where he belonged in pick No. 98. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Brian Parker II in the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nadame Tucker. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nate Boerkircher is a better player than pick No. 178 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kobe Baynes in No. 197 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
