The Packers spent real capital to be 44 picks early on Gracen Halton, and the board is going to hold them to it.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Thomas. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
This one needs a full-page explanation: Treydan Stukes in pick 52, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value said wait; Gracen Halton in No. 84 says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Ja'Kobi Lane slid further than he should have, and slot 120 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It fills a real need, too.
Dametrious Crownover in the 153rd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jakobe Thomas at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dallen Bentley. The roster fit checks out.
They read the board right and Jadon Canady was the payoff at the 236th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Bryce Foster in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
