T.J. Tampa in pick No. 56 is a small coup, the reward for a room that trusted its board.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, T.J. Tampa at the 56th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Braden Fiske at No. 87 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
By-the-book stuff, Sataoa Laumea at the 124th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Jaylan Ford in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Jordan Magee, who had no business lasting to slot 212. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
BJ Mayes at pick No. 245 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
