The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Myles Harden, the No. 209 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 7 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Bortolini reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a blindside protector at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Xavier Worthy in slot 56; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Audric Estime in Round 3, Pick 35, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Javon Foster at No. 119 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They let Dylan Laube come to them and pounced at the Round 5 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid a round early for Tanor Bortolini in pick 178, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy bit of business in the 216th pick, where Jared Wiley graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
JD Bertrand at pick No. 233 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Myles Harden at pick 244 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
