Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Cowboys spent No. 242 on Trajan Jeffcoat, a name most had 61 spots down the list.
A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. The Rosemy-Jacksaint pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get protection for the quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A tidy little value on Payton Wilson in the 56th overall pick, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Bucky Irving at the 87th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid a round early for Jordan Jefferson in pick 173, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
