The Dolphins did not so much draft Jaylen Harrell as overpay for him, 24 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The Magee value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and T'Vondre Sweat at pick No. 55 is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Renardo Green at the 87th pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A minor itch, scratched.
Nice patience on Luke McCaffrey, who had no business lasting to slot 158. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Layden Robinson at pick 174, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
