The board owed the Cowboys one, and it paid up: Cam Skattebo, the No. 110 name on the board, sitting there at No. 209 like a gift left on the doorstep. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The Belton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a workhorse for the backfield, and a steal at that.
Jalon Walker in the 44th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Omarr Norman-Lott in No. 76 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jaeden Roberts at pick 148 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Dont'e Thornton Jr. at Round 5, Pick 31 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They went early on Nazir Stackhouse in the Round 5 slot, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A straight-up fair deal on Addison West at slot 173, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value said wait; Anthony Belton in pick No. 186 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Cam Skattebo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A real head-scratcher, Thor Griffith in Round 7, Pick 32 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
