After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
On value alone, Ali makes the weekend a net positive. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Laumea pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 9 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
A tidy little value on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the Round 2 slot, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A straight-up fair deal on Braden Fiske at the 77th pick, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Sataoa Laumea in Round 4, Pick 13 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good price on Curtis Jacobs in slot 190, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Christian Jones in pick No. 221 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A running back of that caliber at the 231st overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
