After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The cost of the Ulofoshio reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Edwards.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 5 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for T.J. Tampa in No. 44, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Patrick Paul at Round 3, Pick 13. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No edge and no loss on Mekhi Wingo in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach on Mason McCormick in slot 147; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the 210th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Daijun Edwards at pick No. 221 is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A real head-scratcher, Jordan Magee in the 225th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Edefuan Ulofoshio in the 227th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
