After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Hunter steal is the beam this whole class leans on. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 7 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Byron Murphy II at No. 44, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No drama and no debate, Christian Haynes went about where he belonged in pick No. 77. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Max Melton in the 112th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
You do not let a linebacker like Cedric Gray reach Round 5, Pick 14 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Value with a capital V on Ethan Driskell in the Round 6 slot, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Steal is underselling it; Jontrey Hunter at the 234th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
