They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
On value alone, Phillips makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 9 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
The board had Troy Fautanu higher than the 45th pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good price on Ricky Pearsall in the 77th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They did well to land Khyree Jackson in Round 4, Pick 12, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Cedric Gray at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Keith Randolph Jr. in pick 150 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
You do not let a cornerback like Andru Phillips reach pick No. 190 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Christian Jones in slot 192 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jase McClellan at pick 234 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
