Start where it matters. The Raiders took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 9 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
Byron Murphy II at pick No. 44 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Brenden Rice in the 77th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on DJ James at Round 4, Pick 12, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jaheim Bell at the Round 5 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Nathan Thomas at slot 190 is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jeremy Flax in pick 234 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
