Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Commanders, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Put together, it is a D+.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
McMahon has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Landing Magee that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chop Robinson. The roster fit checks out.
Kiran Amegadjie is a better player than Round 2, Pick 31 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Payton Wilson in slot 67 is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Brenden Rice at the 75th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 100 with a little surplus value in Bucky Irving. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kris Abrams-Draine at the 121st overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 138, where James Williams graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Theo Johnson at the 141st overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid sticker price for Aki Ogunbiyi in Round 6, Pick 6, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jordan Magee in the Round 6 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Dylan McMahon in pick 223 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
