The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Drake Maye, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
If Nugent pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Landing Booker that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They let Graham Barton come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 4. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Kamari Lassiter at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy bit of business in slot 67, where Adisa Isaac graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Austin Booker slid further than he should have, and pick No. 99 is lovely value for the edge rusher. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Zak Zinter in No. 101, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Tommy Eichenberg went about where he belonged in the 138th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Drake Nugent in pick 178 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach on Brevyn Spann-Ford in the 222nd overall pick; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
