The war room fell hard for Jack Kelly, and it showed at Round 7, Pick 11: 30 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Stowers falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Steal is underselling it; Eli Stowers at the 75th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A quiet steal in slot 94: Elijah Sarratt for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They did well to land Bud Clark in pick No. 108, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
DeMonte Capehart in Round 4, Pick 11 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached a country mile for Kaleb Elarms-Orr at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Travis Burke at No. 170 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jack Kelly at pick No. 227 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Eli Heidenreich in the Round 7 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board had Josh Cuevas higher than the 256th overall pick, and the tight end fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Adam Randall this early at the 257th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
