The Cowboys clearly saw something nobody else did in David Walker, taking him 88 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Landing Majors that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Mason Graham in slot 12, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They robbed the room for Omarion Hampton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
David Walker at the Round 3 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Deontae Lawson in pick No. 148 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They went early on JJ Pegues in the 168th pick, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jake Majors at No. 170 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
