You can hear the double-takes from here. The Broncos took Adam Randall at the 242nd overall pick, roughly 33 spots before his name belonged. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Lance falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
A reach for Eli Stowers in pick 44; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Jacob Rodriguez at par in Round 3, Pick 1, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Bud Clark at pick No. 104 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A slide stopped in the 108th overall pick, with Bryce Lance worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value said wait; DeMonte Capehart in No. 111 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Isaiah World at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Taylen Green in pick 183 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A big swing on Jack Kelly at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Adam Randall well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
