The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Broncos reached some 109 spots for Adam Randall, and value like that does not grow back.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The Golday pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Eli Stowers in pick No. 56, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jacob Rodriguez at pick 65 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value with a capital V on Jadarian Price in the Round 3 slot, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Jake Golday at the 88th pick for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bryce Lance in the 108th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A big swing on J.C. Davis at No. 111, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
DeMonte Capehart at Round 4, Pick 24 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for Taylen Green at pick No. 143, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
VJ Payne at pick 164 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Adam Randall in slot 166, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
