You build a draft on nights like this. Wyatt Milum had no business being available in slot 247, and the Cowboys did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get a disruptive interior force. A real need, handled.
The board fumbled Ashton Jeanty all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Taking Jahdae Barron in the 76th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jalon Walker in the 148th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tre Harris at Round 5, Pick 31 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They will replay Malachi Moore at slot 170 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Somehow Quinshon Judkins was still sitting there in pick 171, and they pounced on premier running back value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Azareye'h Thomas in No. 187, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They robbed the room for T.J. Sanders here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
Wyatt Milum at the 247th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
