The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
The Okie-Anoma pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
In the 27th pick they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jordan Morgan at pick No. 35 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Legette at the 36th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Kingsley Suamataia at No. 53 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Braden Fiske at pick 60 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Patrick Paul at slot 67, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Khyree Jackson in Round 3, Pick 29; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Zak Zinter in slot 100 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They went early on Theo Johnson in the 105th overall pick, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Braelon Allen in No. 108 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cedric Gray. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They took Johnny Wilson at par in pick 119, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid a round early for Mohamed Kamara in the 125th pick, more than the board wanted. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy bit of business in Round 4, Pick 26, where Elijah Jones graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Joe Milton III in the Round 6 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They jumped the gun on Trevin Wallace, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A real head-scratcher, Tyler Owens in No. 230 is miles ahead of his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at slot 247 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
