When the story of this class is written, it opens with Sam Hartman at slot 214, a reach of 44 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They banked enough surplus on Bullock to cover a lot of smaller sins. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Olumuyiwa Fashanu at the Round 1 slot is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value with a capital V on Graham Barton in the 36th overall pick, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Bo Nix at the 40th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Malachi Corley at Round 2, Pick 30, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Patrick Paul in No. 67 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Max Melton is a better player than slot 89 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Calen Bullock in Round 3, Pick 34. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They took Cam Hart at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Theo Johnson at No. 102 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Johnny Wilson at the 118th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nothing to complain about; Trevor Keegan went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dylan Laube at pick 152 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A real head-scratcher, Sam Hartman in the 214th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They went early on Trevin Wallace in slot 222, and the value did not follow. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
