They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Fashanu pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Reaching for Wallace left real value on the table behind him.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Somehow Olumuyiwa Fashanu was still sitting there in slot 36, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jordan Morgan in the 40th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Kingsley Suamataia in the 67th pick, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Patrick Paul at Round 3, Pick 14 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A conviction pick on Theo Johnson at pick 114 that the board grades a round light. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Johnny Wilson at pick No. 116 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Luke McCaffrey at No. 152 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Trevin Wallace at slot 222 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A minor need, but a need all the same.
