The Commanders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Cam Skattebo, the No. 110 name on the board, in Round 6, Pick 28. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Every board in the league had Dumervil lower, and that gap is the story. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 29 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. Need was not the driver here.
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a running back like Dylan Sampson reach the 79th overall pick and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board fumbled Savion Williams all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Circle this one: Kevin Winston Jr. at pick 146 is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They will replay Cam Skattebo at pick No. 203 for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Jared Wilson at No. 236 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached into another round for Marcus Dumervil, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
