They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Rice value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 2 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value.
A straight-up fair deal on Braden Fiske at the 36th pick, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
They paid sticker price for Xavier Worthy in the 40th overall pick, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kingsley Suamataia at pick 67 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Patrick Paul at pick No. 78 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Fair-plus on Khyree Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking Brenden Rice in Round 5, Pick 3 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Trevin Wallace at slot 152 squarely in line with his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Garret Greenfield in pick 222 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
