They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
Getting Driskell where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The phones were where this weekend was really won. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jayden Daniels and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
They took Chop Robinson at par in No. 36, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reach for Cooper Beebe in the 67th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Johnny Wilson in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Khyree Jackson went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 1. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good price on James Williams in the 138th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Roger Rosengarten at pick No. 181, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ethan Driskell at slot 220 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
