You could see the war room lean forward. Ollie Gordon II at slot 207 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a ballhawk on the outside, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A quiet steal in pick No. 61: Tre Harris for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 104 with a little surplus value in Savion Williams. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Hollin Pierce at slot 148 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A running back of that caliber at the 207th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Trey Zuhn III was still sitting there in pick 238, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
By-the-book stuff, Clay Webb at the 250th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
