Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Oronde Gadsden II got past him. The Commanders do not have to explain a thing at pick 183. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Reaching for Tuten left real value on the table behind him. The Myles Garrett deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 29 they get a difference-maker at receiver, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A tidy little value on Savion Williams in the 101st pick, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Anthony Belton in No. 112 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Bhayshul Tuten at pick No. 148 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ollie Gordon II. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Oronde Gadsden II at the 183rd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Chase Lundt still on the board at slot 207. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Tonka Hemingway in the Round 7 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
By-the-book stuff, Rayuan Lane III at pick No. 253 squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
