Call it larceny. Bhayshul Tuten sat on the board until slot 246, and the Commanders did not need to be asked twice.
The Mills pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A quiet steal in the 40th overall pick: Isaiah Bond for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Tyler Warren worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a running back like Dylan Sampson reach the 79th pick and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Darien Porter in Round 3, Pick 26 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A real head-scratcher, Rylie Mills in pick 97 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Somehow Cam Skattebo was still sitting there in pick No. 146, and they pounced on premier running back value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nice patience on Addison West, who had no business lasting to slot 196. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steal is underselling it; Cody Simon at No. 202 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They robbed the room for Seth McLaughlin here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Bhayshul Tuten in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
