The rest of the league will want that one back. Jaylin Simpson tumbling to the Cowboys in slot 174 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The Kobie Turner pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get protection for the quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
A tidy bit of business in slot 56, where Chris Braswell graded well above the range. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jaylin Simpson at pick 174 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jaylan Ford in pick No. 216 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steele Chambers in No. 233 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nathan Thomas in the Round 7 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
