They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Getting Simpson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Adding Bijan Robinson by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 8 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
Taliese Fuaga at the Round 2 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Dallas Turner at slot 40 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Cooper Beebe at pick 67 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Malachi Corley at the 101st pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach for Leonard Taylor III in the 103rd overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
James Williams in pick No. 138 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 6 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had De'Corian Clark higher than the 220th pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
