Somebody in No. 203 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Commanders sat still while Devin Neal, the No. 82 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 29 they get a ballhawk on the back end, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Jihaad Campbell in the 61st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Dylan Fairchild at Round 3, Pick 15 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Kyren Lacy here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Devin Neal all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They let Logan Parr come to them and pounced at the 236th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A safety of that caliber at slot 247 is the definition of value, full stop. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
