You build a draft on nights like this. DJ James had no business being available in slot 220, and the Commanders did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.
The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. The DJ Moore deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 9 they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
Malik Nabers in the 36th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow Brock Bowers was still sitting there in pick 37, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Adisa Isaac went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Cooper Beebe in the 75th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Junior Colson at pick No. 101 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Steal is underselling it; Blake Corum at slot 103 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for Blake Fisher here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay DJ James at Round 6, Pick 45 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
