Start where it matters. The Commanders took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.
Byrd has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. However the rest shakes out, Thomas Jr. at that price is a win they earned.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jayden Daniels and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 8th overall pick they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
The board had Amarius Mims higher than slot 36, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Graham Barton in pick 54 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They will replay Brian Thomas Jr. at Round 2, Pick 30 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for T.J. Tampa here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Somehow Blake Corum was still sitting there in No. 93, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Khyree Jackson in pick No. 101 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A premium they did not need to pay, James Williams a notch or two before his time. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Fair-plus on Isaiah Adams, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They let Javon Foster come to them and pounced at pick No. 138. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They liked Ty'Ron Hopper enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 142. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They did well to land Dallin Holker in slot 152, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Braelon Allen at the 160th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Joe Milton III at par in No. 170, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Solomon Byrd at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board fumbled Curtis Jacobs all the way to the 211th overall pick, and they scooped it up. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Value with a capital V on JD Bertrand in slot 220, a genuine coup. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
