When a board-topper like Dominic Zvada slides to the 203rd overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Commanders did not. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th overall pick they get an enforcer at safety, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Tyler Warren at Round 2, Pick 29 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 79th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
You do not let a wide receiver like Kyren Lacy reach No. 146 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Dominic Zvada at pick 203 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
They barely believed it either: Raheim Sanders still on the board at the Round 7 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow DJ Campbell was still sitting there in slot 247, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
