The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: TreVeyon Henderson, the 148th pick, roughly 87 picks past where he belonged.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They are betting Vinson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.
Adding Tyreek Hill by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Malaki Starks in the 44th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Tyler Warren in pick 76 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They will replay TreVeyon Henderson at No. 148 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Jeffrey Bassa was still sitting there in pick No. 168, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Joshua Gray in slot 170, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Carson Vinson in Round 5, Pick 34 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Zane Durant slipping to the Round 6 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
They barely believed it either: Raheim Sanders still on the board at pick No. 209. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
