Call it larceny. Cam Skattebo sat on the board until pick No. 202, and the Commanders did not need to be asked twice. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Reaching for Horn Jr. left real value on the table behind him. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A slide stopped in pick No. 59, with Tyler Warren worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Alfred Collins in slot 81 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let a running back like Cam Skattebo reach pick 202 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Circle this one: Jared Wilson at No. 235 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jimmy Horn Jr. at the 246th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
