They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Reaching for Suamataia left real value on the table behind him.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
Caleb Williams in Round 1, Pick 2 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Xavier Legette in No. 36 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach on Kingsley Suamataia in the 40th overall pick; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy little value on Zach Frazier in slot 67, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Khyree Jackson at the 101st pick squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reach for Leonard Taylor III in pick 103; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
James Williams in pick No. 138 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No drama and no debate, Roger Rosengarten went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jordan Magee in the Round 6 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor itch, scratched.
