The real work happened on the phones. The Commanders fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.

The Guyton steal is the beam this whole class leans on. It is not that Gray is a bad player; it is that the Commanders had louder needs to answer first.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
