Somebody in No. 157 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Commanders sat still while Quinshon Judkins, the No. 73 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The Williams reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Luther Burden III in pick 26, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on JT Tuimoloau. It fills a real need, too.
Tyler Warren at the 79th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
You do not let a running back like Quinshon Judkins reach No. 157 and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Bhayshul Tuten in slot 235, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Jared Wilson all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Gentry Williams. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
