They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop.

Taylor-Demerson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

If Milton III pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.2 · Pick 2 · Caleb Williams · QB · rank 2
In pick 2 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 22
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Amarius Mims at the Round 2 slot is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.23 · Pick 55 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 50
Junior Colson at No. 55 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 67
They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in the 66th overall pick, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Christian Haynes · OG · rank 62
Christian Haynes in the 67th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 84
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Khyree Jackson. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.1 · Pick 101 · Dadrion Taylor-Demerson · S · rank 83
Circle this one: Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at slot 101 is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 109
They took Braelon Allen at par in Round 4, Pick 3, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · Johnny Wilson · WR · rank 128
A premium they did not need to pay, Johnny Wilson a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.19 · Pick 155 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 165
A conviction pick on Luke McCaffrey at pick No. 155 that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 199
Joe Milton III in No. 181 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.45 · Pick 220 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 236
They paid up for Trevin Wallace at slot 220 when waiting would have done the job. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
