Dallas Cowboys

A sensible, unshowy class lands the Cowboys a B.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jalen Travis, 79 picks early at pick 186. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.16 · Pick 16 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
In slot 16 they get a three-down runner, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 21
The board fumbled Jalon Walker all the way to the 44th pick, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Deone Walker · DT · rank 66
Deone Walker is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.12 · Pick 113 · Savion Williams · WR · rank 112
Savion Williams in pick 113 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.11 · Pick 148 · Kevin Winston Jr. · S · rank 93
They barely believed it either: Kevin Winston Jr. still on the board at the 148th overall pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R5.14 · Pick 151 · Lathan Ransom · S · rank 104
Lathan Ransom in No. 151 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R5.31 · Pick 168 · Jake Majors · C · rank 95
Jake Majors in slot 168 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.33 · Pick 170 · Mello Dotson · CB · rank 132
They robbed the room for Mello Dotson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.36 · Pick 173 · Nazir Stackhouse · DL · rank 187
The board had cheaper options than Nazir Stackhouse at pick No. 173, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Jalen Travis · OT · rank 265
Jalen Travis at the Round 6 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Jaishawn Barham · LB · rank 210
Jaishawn Barham in Round 6, Pick 34 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.32 · Pick 248 · Brant Kuithe · TE · rank 206
You do not let a tight end like Brant Kuithe reach the 248th pick and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
