Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Patriots came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
Getting Walker where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick-by-Pick
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in pick 44, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Aireontae Ersery in Round 2, Pick 13 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They robbed the room for Trey Amos here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
TreVeyon Henderson at the 76th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 3 slot, where Xavier Restrepo graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
