The rest of the league will want that one back. Cooper DeJean tumbling to the Eagles in the Round 3 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
They read the board right and JC Latham was the payoff at No. 32. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Nate Wiggins for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Emeka Egbuka was still sitting there in the 64th overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cooper DeJean in slot 97 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dominick Puni at Round 5, Pick 1 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
They will replay Jason Marshall Jr. at the 147th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cedric Gray at pick No. 172 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Ty'Ron Hopper at pick 178 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Storm Duck in pick No. 253, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
