The Jack Pyburn pick is the one that will follow the Browns into the fall. They took him 77 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Jeremiyah Love in Round 1, Pick 6, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Omar Cooper Jr. at No. 39 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A straight-up fair deal on Chase Bisontis at the 70th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Dametrious Crownover in pick No. 107 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
They talked themselves into Taylen Green at slot 146, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Caleb Douglas in No. 149 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A wild overpay on Jack Pyburn in the 206th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tristan Leigh this early at the 248th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
