Nobody had Will Shipley this high, and it is not close. The Texans reached 37 spots to get him at the 124th pick.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: running back settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A wild overpay on Brian Thomas Jr. in No. 53, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Tory Horton at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A real head-scratcher, Donovan Edwards in the 121st pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value said wait; Will Shipley in the 124th overall pick says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
